The association has started a neighborhood funding campaign to pay for a total of 36 bike parking spots in three different locations in the shopping district. Although vacancies are down in the district, there are not many places to lock up a bike. The association is looking to raise about $10,000 for the project. So far, more than $3,000 has been raised. You can contribute at the Six Corners fundraising website. If you would like to help fund the corrals and have some fun in the process, join fellow cyclists for Cruisin’ for Corrals, a Milwaukee Avenue bike ride on Friday, October 3. The event starts at 6 pm at The Grayland Pub, 3734 N. Milwaukee, where riders can share $5 pitchers of PBR. At 7 pm, riders will proceed north on Milwaukee to Josi’s Frozen Yogurt, 4032 N. Milwaukee, for a free 3-ounce sample. From there, the group will ride north to Hops & Barley, 4359 N. Milwaukee, and Fischman’s Liquors, 4780 N. Milwaukee, where both establishments will have specials for riders. Cyclists will need to wear a helmet and sign a waiver, and a $5 donation is requested with proceeds going toward the 6 Corners bike corrals.
