Being Green on the Northwest Side

Being Green on the Northwest Side

St. Tarcissus is hosting its 5th annual Recycling Day and Green Expo from 9 am to 3 pm Saturday, Sept. 27. During the expo, crews will be collecting old computers, monitors, TVs, telephones, radios, DVD players, and scrap metals in the parking lot behind the church. 5800 N. Moody. No kitchen appliances accepted.
There will also be free document shredding between 9 am and noon only.

Inside the St. Tarcissus School Auditorium, 6040 W. Ardmore, residents can peruse the Green Expo. Learn about green household cleaning tips, backyard chicken raising and composting. There will also be rain barrel and vendor raffles, a free book swap, games for kids, and a place is dispose of unused and expired medication.

I hope you’ll be able to make and learn how to be more kind to our environment.

If you need to have documents shredded, you can also stop by the Independence Park Farmer’s Market between 9 am and 1 pm on Sunday, Sept. 14. The vendor who failed to come out at our scheduled shredding in August, Midwest Moving and Storage, has promised us that they will not let us down again.

I hope to see you at both events.
